Biography

My love of music began at the age of 7 when I first started playing the violin before deciding to also learn the piano when I was 10. I went on to gain a scholarship to The Guildhall School of Music in 1987, where I studied under Pavel Crisan.

Experience

Whilst completing my degree at Roehampton Institute, in 1994, I became interested in music therapy alongside traditional methods of teaching. After qualifying in 1996, I began my career as a secondary school music teacher, working for 20 years in a wide variety of settings including time spent in special needs settings and working as a SENCO; as well as holding the position of music coordinator. For two of those years, I worked as a peripatetic teacher for Southend Music Service. Additionally, I taught both violin and piano, ran the local music school and led Southend’s steel band.

Performing

I perform regularly as a wedding violinist and also play at functions and events.

I won Hitched Wedding Musician in East Sussex voted by my couples for 2023.

My Students

Finding Abigail has been a real god send. My 12-year-old daughter had been doing violin lessons at school for 2 years and was not making much progress and she was not enjoying the learning.
Now that we have changed over to Abigail teaching her, she is looking forward to her weekly lesson and is appreciating her opportunity to learn and enjoy her music lessons. Abigail come across as very caring and is able to adapt the lesson to best meet my daughter’s needs. Would highly recommend her to anyone of any age wanting to learn to play the violin.

Abigail has a professional, friendly approach to her teaching that allows her to get the best out of my children as she is responsive to their needs. My children look forward to their lessons and enjoy them. She is currently preparing them for their first violin exam and she encourages them with their enjoyment of the instrument. Over lockdown
Abigail was able to adapt their lessons to an online setting too.
